Die Thüringer Bratwurst

Die Thüringer Bratwurst - a 600-year-old classic. The recipe, as already enjoyed by Goethe, is 600 years old. But aside from pork, marjoram, caraway, and garlic, the full recipe remains a closely guarded secret among the 3,000 butcher of the region. All we know is that the sausage has to be cooked over hot charcoal and weigh around 150 g. Thuringia’s ultimate fast food should be accompanied by authentic Thuringian mustard. At Germany’s first bratwurst museum in Arnstadt, the earliest known documentation of it dates from 1404.
